How it went

Close view of the original pool deck showing surface pitting and staining
What we started withThe slab was sound underneath, but the surface had spalled and stained. Structurally fine, which is exactly what makes coating the right call instead of a repour.
Cleaning and etching the concrete patio before coating
Clean and etchThe whole surface gets deep cleaned and etched so the coating bonds. Cracks filled and spalled areas patched before anything goes down.
First coat being rolled onto the concrete patio
First coatRolled on and worked for consistent texture, with steps and railing posts masked. The old surface disappears under the first pass.
Finished coating texture where the deck meets the charcoal painted skirt
The finished textureEnough grip to be safe when wet, still comfortable barefoot. The raised skirt went charcoal to set off the lighter deck.
Finished pool deck and patio seen from the upper deck
FinishedPool surround, upper patio, and entry steps all coated in one run so the whole space reads as a single surface.
